Linear Transformations of a Segment

Consider the linear transformation defined by:

linear transormation

Consider points A and B in the window below. Compute the transformation of A and B and see how the line connecting A and B is transformed. Several different combinations of points A and B are presented.

Your browser is not Java capable.

This window asks the user to compute the transformation of points A and B to AA and BB respectively through the linear transformation presented above. Enter the transformed points AA and BB in the appropriate textfield and click "Submit". If incorrect values for AA and BB are submitted three times in a row, the correct values will be given and the line connecting AA to BB will be displayed. Several different lines AB are available for transformation. The coordinates of a point on the graph can be obtained by clicking anywhere on the graph. The x and y coordinates will be displayed in the lower left hand side of the applet. To zoom in or zoom out, click the appropriate button.
