- Metric geometry of nilpotent Lie groups, especially Carnot groups.
- Bilipschitz and snowflake embeddings of metric spaces into Euclidean and L^p spaces.
- Rigorous approaches to mathematical models of synchronization, with an emphasis on the Winfree and Kuramoto models.
