*********************************** * Princeton Discrete Math Seminar * *********************************** Date: Thursday 13th April, 3:00 in Fine Hall 224. Speaker: Jeff Kahn (Rutgers) Title: Dreaming of independence I'll mainly discuss one simple example of a common state of affairs: it would be nice to be able to say that some quantities of interest behave (more or less) as if they were independent. While we still can't show the behavior we expect for the question in question, what we do know is at least enough to settle an old conjecture of Alon and Spencer.
