About the meeting

Extensive systems across probability, analysis, and quantum theory

The workshop will focus on mathematical questions arising in systems with a very large—and in the thermodynamic limit, infinite—number of degrees of freedom distributed over space or spacetime. These systems provide the natural setting for phase transitions, scaling limits, long-range correlations, transport, localization, and emergent collective behavior.

MPES will emphasize rigorous methods and conceptual links across classical and quantum models. The aim is to bring together techniques from probability, analysis, operator algebras, spectral theory, statistical mechanics, and constructive field theory, with particular attention to methods and open problems that travel across subfields.

Recent advances have made the connections between classical spin systems, scaling limits, and quantum many-body theory especially vivid. MPES is intended as a focused forum for sharing those ideas across communities.
