Title:
Wigner Transforms of wavelet bases
Abstract:
Wigner transforms are a classical tool, used in quantum mechanics, pseudodifferential operator theory and signal processing. It is particularly handy in studying semiclassical (high frequency) limits of linear wave equations. This work develops a new efficient way to compute Wigner transforms making use of wavelet bases. Special functions on phase space, related to wavelet and scaling functions appear naturally; some ramifications of the construction are considered.
